Magaliesberg
The Magaliesberg are close to the major cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg. This beautiful mountain range offers visitors a simple weekend getaway in an area that is just a few minutes away from many different activities and attractions.
The Magaliesberg are a range of mountains 120 kilometres in length that are older than Everest. This stretch of mountains forms a natural border between the warmer lowland savannah and the cooler Highveld. The Magaliesberg are a scenic conglomeration of deep gullies, kloofs, clear streams, tall waterfalls and sheer cliffs.

For the adventurous, the Magaliesberg is a great place for hikers, rock climbers and abseiling. Much of the mountain range is relatively untouched by civilisation leaving a large part of the area as wild and free as it was when people first started settling in the area centuries ago. Camping is a favourite for many visitors with a variety of game reserves offering safe and affordable camp and caravan sites. Horse riding trails and canopy tours allow visitors to see the beauty of the area in a very special and different way.
Located close to the Hartbeespoort Dam and surrounding towns, the Magaliesberg also offer visitors the opportunity to see and buy some of the interesting local arts and crafts. Many towns in the area have arts and crafts shops as well as regular festivals where the best talent of the area is put on show.
